what is that, a clarkman?
well, i'm back from star island and it was wonderful. the first two days were warm and serene and it felt amazing to be out of the city.
this is the boat that took us to the island from portsmouth.
the weather was so nice that meagan and i were able to sit on lawn chairs during the entire 70 minute ride.
and this is what i saw after our first day of moving furniture.
i was really surprised at the smallness of the island. i would wager a guess that its only like 30 acres or so. these are some of the homes for the people who come to the conferences held on the island
so the first night meagan and i walked around and even had a quick swim in the freezing ocean.
the whole point of the trip, in case people are wondering what i was doing on an island, was to help the employees open the hotel and to get things in order for conference season.
that meant i was able to do some lawn work while other people painted, mopped floors, etc.
it was great because there were only like 20 people on the island
after the first two days the winter weather showed up and it was way to cold and rainy to take pictures.
all that happened was moving beds, raking grass clippings...
taking apart bed frames, sitting in chairs...
and looking at the pictures i was fortunate enough to have already taken.
we stayed in a cottage similar to this one. it was very nice, except there was no running water, electricity, or heat. oh well.
and get this, i barfed three times on the lobster boat ride back to the mainland because of a storm that was so bad i really thought i was going to die at sea. it really was the worst. the absolute fucking worst and i will never get over how terrified i was. good times. anyway, it was a great week and meagan and i got back to brooklyn in time for her birthday dinner and a cupcake eating contest.

my home is the sea
so, school is out for a few weeks and i am currently preparing to leave the city for a week of new england islanding. that is, i will be hauling furniture around a 19th century hotel on an island off the coast of new hampshire for a week. doesn't sound like much, but it's certainly better than physics lab
ok, let's see....what else is happening? well, i bough tickets to go to alaska. thats's pretty neat. oh yeah, after this week i'll be on my way to a yurt in upstate NY for meagan's bday.
